Advice I have adopted
Look at market fluctuations as your friend rather than your enemy; profit from folly rather than participate in it.
-Warren Buffett

The price pattern reminds you that every movement of importance is but a repetition of similar price movements, that just as soon as you can familiarize yourself with the actions of the past, you will be able to anticipate and act correctly and profitably upon forthcoming movements.
-Jesse Livermore

1.  Be well aware of short term and long term market directions and sentiments before entering any positions.

2.  Enter positions with a small fraction of available capital to allow for alternations to be made.

3.  Be aware of short term and long term ranges of volatility to keep you from pulling out early.

4.  Actively watch the news, and be aware of exterior factors, for they instantly create new market conditions.

5.  Keep a close eye on volume levels.  When they spike on a valley, it is time to buy.  When they spike on peaks, it is time to sell.
An investment in knowledge pays the best interest.
-Benjamin Franklin

The individual investor should act consistently as an investor and not as a speculator. This means that he should be able to justify every purchase he makes and each price he pays by impersonal, objective reasoning that satisfies him that he is getting more than his money’s worth for his purchase.
-Benjamin Graham

Rule No.1: Never lose money. Rule No.2: Never forget rule No.1.
-Warren Buffett

The market can stay irrational longer than you can stay solvent.
-John Maynard Keynes
